Lost Horizons Outfitters is North America's premier booking agency

We work with the finest outfitters across Africa. We currently offer hunts in ten African countries for plains game and the Big Five, as well as more exotic species like bongo and Lord Derby eland.

Botswana, Africa

The number and size of Botswana’s elephant bull must be seen to be believed.

Botswana is widely regarded as Africa’s premier destination for big tuskers. Our outfitter is widely considered to be Botswana’s best. He has several concessions bordering the Okavango Delta, and two in the famed Chobe Enclave.

All his concessions produce outstanding bulls, as evidenced by the outfitter’s 60-pound average and the incredible 104-pound bull he produced the first week of the 2010 season.

The number and size of Botswana’s elephant bull must be seen to be believed. Their ivory is thick and heavy, and the biggest bulls are two feet taller and 2,000-pounds heavier than you’re likely to encounter anywhere else.

Whether you’re an avid elephant hunter or you just want to experience elephant hunting once in your life, there is no better place than Botswana.

Mozambique, Africa

Buffalo thrive in the forests and swamps.

Mozambique is widely regarded as one of Africa’s premier destinations for dangerous game. Buffalo thrive in the forests and swamps, and the rivers that wind through the area on their way to the coast are teeming with huge crocodiles and hippos.

Our outfitters also enjoy an excellent success rate on big leopards and exceptional lions.

We hunt two areas in Mozambique. The first, Coutada 10, is situated on the Indian Ocean, a short 30 minute charter flight from the port city of Beira.

Coutada 10 consists of approximately 1,200 square miles of African bush. Terrain ranges from papyrus swamps to open bushveld to hardwood forests.

Mike Axlerad bagged this huge croc with one of our Mozambique outfitters.

A wide variety of game inhabits this interesting ecosystem, with buffalo, hippo, croc, sable, red duiker, and suni being some of the area’s specialty species.

Our second concession is partially in the famed Niassa National Game Reserve in northern Mozambique. The 4,180 square kilometer area boasts two permanent rivers, many streams, and excellent habitat for the species that call this area home.

Elephant, lion, leopard, buffalo, hippo, croc, Roosevelt sable, waterbuck, Chobe bushbuck, and Lichtenstein hartebeest are just some of the species that thrive in this game rich area.

Namibia, Africa

This Namibian monster measured 8'4

Namibia is one of Africa’s premier destinations for plains game and leopards. We are proud to say we work with the finest leopard outfitter in Namibia.

Once hound hunting re-opens, he will begin hunting the huge cattle-killers that inhabit central Namibia with his highly regarded hounds.

In the meantime, he continues to produce outstanding toms over bait from a comfortable ranch house situated in the middle of his 90,000-acre hunting concession.

Our Kalahari-based plains game outfitter hunts a large, unfenced ranch that consists of a mix of Kalahari sand dunes and broken brush.

This arid area produces the biggest gemsbok and springbok in Africa. Kudu, eland, wildebeest, impala, and warthog also grow to record book proportions in the Kalahari.

This family-owned outfit houses their hunters in beautifully-appointed chalets adjacent to their luxurious safari lodge. This is an ideal family destination.

South Africa

Katelyn Corbin with her huge Limpopo bull.

We are proud to say our most popular plains game outfitter operates exclusively on low-fenced, free-range concessions. His areas are massive, with the smallest area in Natal being 110,000 acres.

His largest area, situated in South Africa’s Eastern Cape, is 350,000-acres. He is known for outstanding trophy quality, personalized service, and reasonable prices.

In Natal, hunters stay in a classic, tented safari camp. Greater Southern kudu, Cape bushbuck, and nyala all grow to monstrous proportions here, but the area is home to another dozen or so big game species.

Ron Ragsdale's outstanding East Cape eland bull.

The outfitters premier 350,000-acre Eastern Cape area has a luxurious lodge, with private chalets for the hunters overlooking the scenic Baviaans River.

This area is home to over 30 species of big game, with East Cape kudu, red lechwe, gemsbok, impala, and bushbuck being some of the most popular species.

His 200,000-acre area in the Stormberg Mountains is known for producing gold medal vaal rhebuck and mountain reedbuck.

Both areas are also popular with non-hunters because of their proximity to excellent sightseeing, shopping, game parks, and touring. We can prepare the perfect itinerary for your non-hunting guests.

Cameron Hopkins with his Tanzanian man-eater.

Tanzania offers a unique opportunity to experience the classic, East African safari that is reminiscent of Ruark and Hemmingway. It's also one of the last places where you can enjoy the wild Africa that is synonymous with the word "safari".

Tanzania offers a full range of game, from the diminutive gazelles to the Big 4 (elephant, buffalo, lion, and leopard) and everything in between, making it the best choice for a classic, full-bag safari.

Our outfitter has exclusive rights to several top Tanzanian areas, including blocks in the Selous, Rungwa, and Masailand, as well as Lukwika, one of the best elephant areas in Africa.

He offers classic 16- and 21-day full bag hunts that include lion, leopard, buffalo, elephant, hippo, croc, and plains game as well as affordable 8- and 10-day buffalo hunts in his Kilombero area. His camps, food, and service are superb.

We also hunt a large concession on the famed Save Conservancy with an upscale camp that is ideal for family or corporate groups. It also has incredible lion, leopard, buffalo, and sable. Farther south, we have an excellent private ranch with superb plains game and leopard hunting.

This is one of our best leopard areas. In fact, we have a 90% success rate on our leopard hound hunts here. Baited hunts are also very successful on this 60,000-acre ranch.
